Training Schedule: First Class Diver Award
ASSESSMENT FOR THE AWARD
To qualify for the Scottish Sub-Aqua Club First Class Diver
Award the candidate must satisfy the following conditions.
- Be a Master Diver and at least 21 years of age
- Date of birth recorded
- Submit a properly witnessed logbook showing at least 200 open water
dives. Diving experience should include the following number and types
of dives:
(a) Five to at least 40 metres where the SSAC 'Deep Diving Recommendations'
have been implement.
(b) Twenty dives to a least 30 metres.
(c) The candidate's logbook must show experience of all the following
types of dives: night, nil visibility, large boat dives (e.g. MFV),
RHIB, wreck, drift, fresh water, rough water, cold (winter).
- Submit a current Medical Certificate
- Submit a letter of recommendation from the Branch Committee and pay
the approved fee for the examination
- During the preceding two years the candidate must have obtained the
Deep Rescue Endorsement
- Pass the SSAC or equivalent Boat Handling Endorsement
- Hold a VHF certificate
- Pass the SSAC Nitrox Endorsement
- Pass the SSAC Oxygen Administration and Life Support Endorsement
- Successfully complete two modules from prescribed list:
Regional Instructor, Advanced Boat Handling, Technical Diving, Photography,
Marine Biology, Wreck Research, Archaeology, Diving Physiology.
- Pass an Expedition Planning Paper set within the approval of the
National Diving Council for Scotland
- Pass a practical examination set with the approval of the National
Diving Council for Scotland
NOTE
Parts 1 - 10 must be completed before the closing date
of the application.
