Membership Application FAQ

I have registered my details, but why don't I have access to the payment area?

Every account needs to be manually approved before you will get access to the full site (including payment area). Once we've approved your account we'll send you an e-mail to let you know that you have access.

I have registered my details and my account has been approved, but why can't I access the payment area from the links in your e-mails?

Please make sure you log in to your account before using links to pay. If you're not logged in, you won't get access and will see an "Access Denied" message at the top of the page.

I'm an existing member - do I need to wait until my renewal is due to register my details?

No. As an existing member, you can register your details online at any point - you don't have to wait until your membership is due for renewal. If this is the case, we will approve your account and confirm access without needing payment or a medical form submission at that time. However, the website is set up to send automated e-mails asking you to make payment, so in this instance, please disregard the information contained within the e-mail.

Do I need to submit a medical form every year?

It is a requirement for all members of ScotSAC to complete a medical self-declaration form annually on renewal of membership, even if there has been no change in your medical condition since your last renewal. Sport diving can at times involve heavy physical exertion. Moreover, recreational diving in the UK is carried out in what can occasionally be a cold, dark and hostile environment and it entails responsibility for the safety of other divers. Failure to declare a medical condition could invalidate your insurance.

Do I need to submit a medical form every year if I have been confirmed as being "Fit to Dive" for a number of years?

Yes. It is a requirement for all members of ScotSAC to complete a medical self-declaration form annually on renewal of membership, even if there has been no change in your medical condition since your last renewal. If you are still within your given Fit to Dive time period, and as long as there have been no changes to your health since your last submission, there will be no need for us to refer your form to our medical referee, however.

How do I know my details will be safe online?

We recognise industry standards and employ security safeguards to protect information from unauthorised access and misuse. We use the most accurate and current information you provide in order to process your request. This is done to help protect you from unauthorised use of the information you are sending to our server. We also manually approve access for each member's registration as a further safeguard.
